WINTER TRAILS

The Grand Lake area has a variety of trails for winter exploration, allowing visitors to snowshoe, cross-country ski, and snowmobile beautiful Grand County.

SNOWMOBILE

Grand Lake is the “Snowmobiling Capital of Colorado” and offers 300 miles of snowmobiling trails, including 150 miles of groomed trails. The streets are left snow-packed and the surrounding area offers a variety of terrain for all experience levels.

SNOWSHOE

The “Snowshoe the Wilderness” program allows you to take on the wilderness with a Park Ranger in Rocky Mountain National Park. The FREE two-hour snowshoe tours are available Saturdays and Sundays, January through the 1st Saturday in March. Personal snowshoes and ski poles with large baskets are required to participate, and all participants must be 8 years of age or older. Reservations are required and may be made no sooner than 7 days in advance by calling 970-627-3471. Click here for Ranger-led Programs.

GRAND LAKE NORDIC CENTER

Cross-country ski and snowshoe at Grand Lake Nordic Center. Grand Lake Nordic Center offers ski and snowshoe trails with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains!

Enjoy the scenic views of Rocky Mountain National Park and the Arapaho National Forest, offering beginner to advanced skiers a variety of terrain on 35 km of classic and skate skiing trails. The terrain and trails are also excellent for snowshoeing, and the kid’s tubing hill is a blast! This place is a full-service, outdoor winter destination featuring ski and snowshoe rentals, lessons, a retail shop, and a winter soup kitchen at the Lodge.

The FREE tubing hill will be lit for the event as well! No pre-registration required. When an event is not going on, their 35 km of groomed trails for cross-country skiing, as well as their snowshoe trails and Kids’ Tubing and Sledding hill are still available for full family fun!
